Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of Dominance
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
