Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public personalities offered divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial statements that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate could have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
